Minimizing Waste

  • Waste is minimized throughout our operations
  • The Lake Powell Trash Tracker program enables volunteers with the opportunity to clean up the 1,960 miles of Lake Powell's shoreline. We provide program volunteers with five or seven days aboard a staffed and stocked houseboat. The National Park Service coordinates the volunteers for each trip. Programs average 50,000 lbs. of trash picked up off the shores of Lake Powell each year.

Transportation and Fuel

  • Working with suppliers to provide delivery optimization wherever possible in order to minimize the number of deliveries and trucks on the road.
  • Backhauling recyclables - instead of sending empty trucks back to our suppliers, they are filled with recyclable items that are dropped off at recycling centers.
  • Using electric powered carts for housekeeping operations.

Our Environmental Partners

  • We offer Canned Water for Kids in our stores which is a Wisconsin-based nonprofit providing spring water in aluminum bottles and cans, with the proceeds used to fund clean-drinking-water projects in developing nations while also reducing plastic water bottle usage.
  • Clean the World: A program where soap and left-over amenities are recycled and reused providing communities in many countries the basic tools for hygiene and the potential to decrease preventable diseases such as typhoid and dysentery.

Be sure to make sure that you've turned off the devices that use energy when you leave your room - everything from lights to fans to chargers. Closing the curtains will help maintain temperature control in your room while you're out.
