Treat yourself to a room with a view at Defiance House Lodge. It is located at Bullfrog Marina in Utah and it is where all the fun and games begin.
Rent a powerboat (or some other water craft of your choice) and get out on the lake as soon as possible. Travel to Forgotten Canyon and check out Defiance House ruins. The marina staff can give you directions. Admire Tapestry Wall on your way there. Be sure to take a boxed lunch and spend the day on the lake.
In the evening, enjoy a great meal with a great view at Anasazi Restaurant. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the menu choices are sure to please.
Get back out on Lake Powell in the morning and take a tour of the Rainbow Bridge National Monument. It’s a bit of a distance, approximately 50 miles from Bullfrog Marina, but definitely worth the visit. Along the way, stop at Dangling Rope Marina for some ice cream – it’s the best on the lake. Take a box lunch with you for this will be an all-day trip.
Hike the Escalante Canyons, which is right off of Utah Highway 12. There are side roads leading to established trailheads or starting points.
